THE WEDDING DRESS - Da poco terminata la New York Bridal Week che ha mostrato gli abiti della prossima stagione autunno inverno 2013, la domanda porge spontanea: “ Ma chi ha inventato l’abito da sposa?”

Un nome preciso, purtroppo non c’è, ma la storia narra che fin dai tempi degli Egizi le donne indossavano un abito lungo, semplice di colore bianco. La principessa Filippa d’Inghilterra nel 1406 è stata la prima, però, a indossare il classico abito così come lo intendiamo noi oggi. Così, dal 1400 in avanti the wedding dress è stato il sogno di tutte le donne. Chi non ha mai sognato da piccola il proprio abito bianco? Chi non si è mai lasciato incantare dai matrimoni che hanno fatto la storia?
L’abito da sposa è la fonte di guadagno delle più famose case di moda.

Gli Anni ’50, infatti, videro alcuni dei più splendidi matrimoni di questo secolo e furono gli abiti di alta moda a fare di questi matrimoni una favola. Basta pensare a John F. Kennedy con Jaqueline Lee Bouvier, a Grace Kelly e il principe Ranieri di Monaco, alla Regina d’Inghilterra o a Farah Diba.

Un tempo, la madre della sposa, le damigelle, i paggetti, le testimoni, le zie, le sorelle e le amiche sceglievano di farsi vestire per il grande giorno nello stesso luogo dove la sposa si faceva fare su misura “il vestito più bello della sua vita”. Tradizione utilizzata dalla Duchessa Kate Middleton: la sorella, Pippa, indossava anche lei, un abito firmato da Sarah Burton.

Unfortunately there is not an exact name, but the history tells that during the Egyptian time, women dressed a long, simply white dress. The princess Filippa of England was the first in 1406 to wear the dress as we mind today. And so, from 1400 thereafter, the wedding dress has been the dream of many women. Who has never dreamt, when was a child, the own dress? Who has not fallen to traditionally wedding which made the history charms? The wedding dress is the source of income of the most famous fashion houses.

Once time ago, the mother of the bridal, maid of honor, pageboys, witness, aunts, sisters and friends chose to dress in the same place where the bridal custom made “the most beautiful dress of her life”. Tradition used by Kate Middleton: the sister, Pippa, wore a dress of Sarah Burton.
